J.T. O'Sullivan just missed the cut

A question occurred to me while watching the Wild Card games this weekend: which NFL franchise has the best quarterback history? A couple of teams immediately spring to mind, but I thought I'd go team-by-team, listing each franchise's marquee quarterbacks (if any). Interestingly, no team had more than two. Here's my take. Argue with me!

Oh, and I'm only including a quarterback's performance with that tem, hence, no Joe Montana for the Chiefs, etc.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Green Bay Packers - Brett Favre, Bart Starr
(Pretty easy here)

Minnesota Vikings - Fran Tarkenton, Daunte Culpepper(?)

Detroit Lions - None that come to mind

Chicago Bears - George Blanda, Sid Luckman
(These guys are totally going on "name for me" - before my time, for sure.)

New Orleans Saints - Drew Brees, Archie Manning

Atlanta Falcons - Michael Vick, Matt Ryan may be on his way

Carolina Panthers - None, Jake Delhomme is the best they've had

Tampa Bay Buccaneers - No marquee qb's - Vinny Testaverde was good here, and Brad Johnson won a SB

New York Giants - Phil Simms, Y.A. Tittle(?)

Philadelphia Eagles - Donovan McNabb, Ron Jaworski(?), Randall Cunningham(?)

Washington Redskins - Sammy Baugh, Sonny Jurgensen
(a couple of good ones from the old school, as it were)

Dallas Cowboys - Troy Aikman, Roger Staubach

San Francisco 49ers - Joe Montana, Steve Young

Arizona Cardinals - Wow. Jake Plummer & Kurt Warner? look at this list and come up with better.

Seattle Seahawks - Matt Hasselbeck

St. Louis Rams - Kurt Warner, Jim Everett

Pittsburgh Steelers - Terry Bradshaw, Ben Roethlisberger(?)

Baltimore Ravens - None

Cleveland Browns - Otto Graham and that's about it

Cincinnati Bengals - Boomer Esiason, Carson Palmer
(I suppose a case could be made for Ken Anderson)

Indianapolis Colts - Johnny Unitas, Peyton Manning

Tennessee Titans - Warren Moon, Steve McNair

Jacksonville Jaguars - Mark Brunell

Houston Texans - None

New England Patriots - Tom Brady

Miami Dolphins - Dan Marino, Bob Greise

Buffalo Bills - Jim Kelly

New York Jets - Joe Namath

Kansas City Chiefs - Len Dawson

Oakland Raiders - Jim Plunkett

San Diego Chargers - Dan Fouts

Denver Broncos - John Elway

-------------------------------------------------------------

The way I see it, there are three reasonable choices: San Fran, Indy/Baltimore, and Green Bay. For my money, that's the order, but a case could be made for the Colts.

Also surprising is the lack of a marquee quarterback (within a reasonable time span) of such historic (read: old) franchises as the Bears, Browns, and Lions (even the Cardinals).

Thoughts?
